The picture above is an orangutan. There are fewer than 50,000 left in the wild, and over 90% of their habitat has been destroyed. The reason? Palm oil.
The palm oil industry is believed to be one of the biggest threats to these sweet animals. Between 6 and 12 are killed every day, and palm oil workers are told to get rid of these “pests” by any means, no matter how cruel. Every day, they are buried alive, run over by deforestation equipment, and set on fire, all in the name of a commonly used ingredient in cosmetics, food, and cleaning products.
Stop. Buying. Palm oil. Please. Your choices do make a difference.
I am begging you to signal boost this.
I will be boycotting palm oil.
If you haven’t reblogged this yet, please please please do. Even if you yourself will not be boycotting palm oil, at least spread the word so that someone else might. It makes a difference.
